Helpful Hair/Makeup Information
New to dance recitals? No worries. Below is a helpful link for navigating recital hair and makeup.
Always ask each dance teacher how their hair will be worn for performances, and then use this guide to help you get ready!
Pro tip: Bring lots of bobby pins!
Bobby pins are essential for securing accessories (like Santa hats) to the dancer’s hair so they don’t fall off while they are performing.
Standard Hair for the Show:
Twinkle/6-8 combo classes with a Santa hat: half up, half down
Twinkle/6-8 combo classes - ballet: high bun
Twinkle classes tap: high ponytail
Mini acro: high ponytail
Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Acro Dance: low ponytail
Contemporary, Lyrical: low bun
Cheer: high ponytail
Jr. DCC: half up, half down
*Costumes are class dress code (leos, tutu, tights, etc) with the bottoms and/or accessories provided unless otherwise noted. See costume slips for details (these were sent via email).
Only hip hop and cheer classes will wear the DHM t-shirt for the show.
